There is finally one thing which makes me proud of myself a little bit. That is my statistics. I have been brushing up my statistics since October. I used to spend two days or more to finish up one chapter and still did not know what it is about. After 12 credits training, things are different. I usually spend one or two hours to read one chapter only and I am able to compare the chapter which I am reading to others and get a clear picture of the theorems. The denotation P or p is a good and simple example. Students, like me, always get confused even though it is just a basic knowledge of statistics. P denotes the probability of an event or population proportion. p denotes sample proportion or confidence coefficiency. In the past, I just forced myself to remember if p goes with * which means it is significant. Ha! so stupid! When I happened to see P, I am in panic. What the hell is the capital P? Without clearly understanding the definition, I, of course, cannot offer substantive interpretation. It might be just a tiny, little thing for others. For me, it is a blessing!

I got Gary's comments about my proposal which is exactly what I am doing right now for my literature review. I am so happy to see the similar points. It might show that I am heading to the right direction. Privacy is really a confusing construct. As a matter of the fact, I hesitated to choose this topic as my dissertation this summer. But the more I read about privacy, the more I like it. I remembered Joe (Wolfel) told me to accept my data and my doubts. Because of accepting some conflicts between my data and my hypothesis, I found logic to analyze the current privacy literature. That is, people*s concerns regarding of privacy are usually very high, but why don*t they check privacy statements and read services terms often? Most of them just skip it. However, it is not elaborated clearly in current adversarial paradigm research. Their assumption is data users oppose to data subjects, which is not refined. My argument is that it depends on the contexts and situations. For example: when they have transactions with different sectors and use different technology, they have different concerns. The other conflict is that researchers tend to mix disscusions of privacy nature, privacy protections, privacy risks and privacy concerns together and to claim they are doing privacy studies. I found it is one of the reasons why the privacy becomes so vague. I have another problem. Due to my limited English proficiency, how can I write those things down in a well-written way?

I am the only one in the office. Everybody is going home for Xmas. I am still struggling if I should go back to Taiwan during Chinese New Year.
The reasons which I am struggling with are I am far behind my schedule and I have no money to buy the expensive ticket. Ha..you might say why bother to worry this.
Apparently, you cannot go home. I am a mama girl. It is really hard for me to stay alone for more than six months without seeing my beloved parents. What should I do?

It is funny. As an old blogger, this is my first published blog since I always protect my privacy as much as I can.
It doesn't mean I give up my privacy. Just make myself more accessible.
